Internet Marketing Explained.
Ok. To explain my post below. My mum asked me out of the blue if I was interested to attend some internet marketing course which said was bound to earn on the first day. To tell you the truth, I wasn't the least bit interested. But heck, there's a chance to earn some $$, why not? So i said ok. It was a 3-day 9-to-5 over-the-weekend course. Thats a pic of the speaker.. everyone has a laptop. I used mine to take this pic. missed my soccer again! argh. 4 weeks since I last touched the ball. Friday, December 21, 2007, 1:13 AM

Thailand trip (07.12.07- 1012.07)
"dum dum dum dum dum dum Far away This ship has taken me far away Far away from the memories Of the people who care if I live or die Starlight I will be chasing a starlight Until the end of my life I don't know if it's worth it anymore" If you don't know the song already, its Starlight by Muse. The song was my alarm to indicate the start of 7th December, which meant that we're going to Thailand! The clock showed 8am exactly as i got out of bed to bathe and prepare to head to the airport. By 9am, everyone was ready and raring to go. We got our luggage's and headed for the loading area just beside the block to wait for my dad who drove the car over from the carpark. After everything and everyone was in the car, the next destination would be the airport! Checking in at the counter was a breeze, no surprises as we were early. Then, I followed my dad to drive the car back home to save on parking and taxi fares. We than took a bus back to the airport. Upon arriving, my dad and I headed in through the gates and walked around inside, looking for makan places to have our breakfast. My mum and 2 sisters were already inside as my mum wanted to check her stock at the store inside the terminal. Subway was a breakfast choice for me while my dad had nasi lemak. Rachel and cheryl had Subway too after joining up with us while my mum had a muffin. After I finished my meal, i walked to the toilet and i saw a channel 8 actor walking towards a table near ours. I than secretly beckoned my sisters to look in that direction with a *pretend to point one side while brushing against nose movement*. If u get what i mean. Than, he walked towards the counter which was next to our table to order some food. Rachel was saying that she wants to take a photo with him but she was shy. So my mum said, "Hello! how are you? My kids want to take a picture with you. My girls think you are handsome." by then, he replied too and he said ok to a picture. he also said looks can be deceiving. hmm.. haha.. nice guy la. spoke good english too. we also found out that he was taking the same flight as us. But he was transferring to another country from thailand. Rachel (left) thinks he's hot. hahaha.. Rachel was "oh my god"ing and kept on repeating that he is very hot and cute. girls. Pool time!
Rachel, Cheryl and Me.. My parents Interactive tv. had games, music, shows, and god knows what other fantastic features.
After we got our bags, there could only be one direction. to the exit! people with children, others in suits while a few were holding place cards with names of the people they were waiting for was seen just outside the doors separating the travellers from the homelanders. We looked out for my mum's name as she booked transport to the hotel. That wasn't hard as we found her within 5 mins. After the formalities, she wanted to promote a tour to the floating market on sunday (it was friday then) for a large sum of money. However, she did not have any receipts nor namecard to show proof of purchase and best of all, she wanted the money on the spot in cash. Dumb right??? we declined her offer and waited for our mini bus to the hotel. After we were finally able to board the mini bus, we were stopped by their traffic police when we just left the airport for god knows what reason. after a few minutes of talking, a gift in the form of a ticket, we were on our way.
Upon reaching the hotel, my parents checked us in and got the keys to the rooms.. My dad replied," we come thailand, spend money, crazy." lol. After 10 mins in the taxi, we reached the place. 20 baht (80 cents) for 12 joss sticks and 4 flower rings. After praying, my dad paid for 8 ladies dressed in some kind of buddhist costume to perform a sort of dance/ritual while we squat infront with our backs facing them and our front facing the 4 face buddha. In order to do that, we first had to join a queue next to the pavilion. While we were walking out of the compound, there were a few old ladies sitting down with cages of birds in front of them. They were meant to be released in front of the buddha and we bought one cage to do just that.. We than walked over to a shopping centre called Ma Boon Kong which was 2 traffic lights away to have some food and of cause, shopping!
My dad said, "the hotel can be compromised as its only for sleeping, but not food." well. thats his saying. i prefer both. oh wells. I had some crepes from a stall selling that and that only. quite cool. they had a variety of weird flavours like chocolate with kiwi and these types of combinations. I had the chocolate ice cream with corn flakes. It was like po pia with ice cream and corn flakes. but in a innovative way. After that, we walked around the shopping centre for a while before heading for a night market called Suan Lum Night Bazaar. It consisted of 4 individual sections, with about 7 to 10 long rows of small shops in perfect alignment. I walked with my dad while my sisters walked with my mum as we would have different interests and things to look at. Clothes, shoes, art pieces, souvenirs, sun glasses and other interesting items were being sold to customers there. After covering one huge section, my dad and i stopped for a drink which was being sold right smack in the middle of the section. They had a stall which had openings on all four sides to make it like a roundabout. We than went on to another section but found that they mostly sold the same things so after a while, we met back with my mum and sisters and headed back to the hotel to get some sleep. We walked past a huge food centre where the seats were in the middle while the shops selling food were lined at the sides to get to the taxi stand. Upon reaching the taxi stand, we could not get a taxi. Not because there weren't any, there were taxis aplenty, but because every single one wanted to hagger for a price to take us back. It was robbery. The ride which would normally cost 50 baht costs 150 baht instead. Once, the taxi driver said "200 baht." after my dad inquired about the hotel and pointing to the meter, indicating that he wants to be charged by the meter. My dad replied " You go.... you go hell." We were all laughing at the poor guy. We finally were able to get a taxi after 10 taxis later. Upon reaching our hotel, my dad gave him a rounded-up sum of 60 baht instead and told him, "you good man. you go heaven.." My sis wanted to boil water and we searched high and low for the boiler. In the end, she called the desk counter and asked for hot water. we were told to bring the flask to the lobby where there was a counter which provided free drinks like coffee, tea, water, orange juice and a fruit punch. they also had a few plates of biscuits at the side of the counter. We got our hot water and headed back up to the room. Next morning, my parents wanted to go to Chatuchak Weekend Market for more shopping, so they set a time of 7am to wake up and get ready for breakfast at 8. We were down by than and there was a spread of food like those you see at catered parties at the same place where we got our drinks. I had some bread, scrambled eggs, some chicken porridge and sausages. Morning necessities.
He was sitting on the floor, a box full of newborn mice to one side, many containers stacked up high to the other. with experience, he took a newborn by the body and opened the container containing the snake and thrust it inside for its meal. he repeated this procedure until every snake had a newborn for lunch. once, the snake escaped and bit his hand, coiling itself around it. however, he just took the snake and stuffed it back into the box like nothing happened.
After walking around, buying some things along the way, we headed for another shopping centre to have lunch. My dad did this after he had 2 meals in a row. See the white flag? haha.. We walked to another shopping centre nearby called Siam Paragon. I forgot to mention. every shopping centre had a security guard and a metal detector at the enterance of the building for safety reasons. Upon entering the buliding, there was a escalator heading down with words "SEE THE MONSTERS OF THE SEA" lining the walls. Curious, we went to see what they meant. It was some kind of underwater world situated at the basement of the shopping centre. cute right?? We decided to see what they have to offer and bought tickets. My dad calls this antenna... seafood.
Otters. feeding time.. How innovative is this?? they put a real car there, and filled it with fishes.
We were taken on a small boat which has a glass pane in the middle for us to see below around the area while given a guided tour by one of their staff there. After that, we left to watch the 4D movie located just outside the enterance. It was a 4D show about 4 cute flies taking a trip to the moon. quite lame acutally. haha.. We than headed for a restaruant selling sharks fin for dinner to celebrate my birthday. Since it was nearby, we decided to walk there. My dad said it was located on one of the streets and we walked and walked but we still couldn't find it. My mum than had to pay the toilet a visit, to bomb. So the 4 of us walked around and my dad wanted to get something from guardian nearby. After my mum was done, we headed back out to the streets. And we found it! maybe it was meant to be that my mum had to bomb first before finding the restaurant. I had beer. since i'm of legal age. heh.. Their sharks fin was really solid. not those you would find going for 5bucks. The traffic in Bangkok.. The next morning was to be a early morning as we booked a tour to the floating market at a small tour agency located next to our hotel at a cheaper rate offered by the lady who met us at the airport. All of us woke up at 6am as the tour bus would be meeting as at 7 at the lobby.
It somehow looks like a city under water. The boatman actually stopped half way and reversed the boat to show us this mointor lizard basking under the sun on the banks. talk about service. Upon reaching the floating market, we alighted and met our tour guide who was already there. He cheated by taking the bus. There was a counter to buy tickets for a ride on a hand paddled boat to shop around the floating market. We bought the tickets and were on our way. It was packed as hell. traffic jam on the water. Boats were squeezing through the smallest openings to get to the other side. "hands to yourself" was the call as the other boats might squash ur hands if you put it to the sides of the boat. We were brought around and soon found ourselves back on land and back on the road. The tour guide told my mum after she asked where we were going next that we were going to visit a paper making place. He said, you have not experienced thailand if you don't visit a traditional thai place. After about 15 mins on the road, the bus turned into a place where people were seen carving on wood. The beauty of art. My parents sitting on a huge rocking chair.
Next stop, Chinatown! the tour guide helped us to call a taxi to bring us there and told the driver directions on where we wanted to go.
Next stop, what else, shopping! My mum knew of a place where the whole street sold wholesale items and we walked around to find that street. We almost gave up as we couldn't find it and since it was a Sunday, my dad suggested that it may be closed. My mum's persistance paid off. we found it and it was not only open but crowded as hell. People were jostling with one another to pass and all of us were keeping a weary eye on our belongings for pick pockets. After an hour of walking through the hot and stuffy lane, it was time to leave. It was too hot. So we headed for paradise. An air con shopping centre. Ma Boon Kong again. We took a taxi there and walked around again. This time, we had more time as they were about to close the last time we went. Again, we went our seperate ways. I simply love the 4th floor of the shopping centre but sadly i couldn't buy anything from there. They had small stores selling handphones, electronics like wii, ps3 and psp as well as pirated games! Heaven was just there but i just couldn't enter. My dad and i headed to the food court next to find my mum and sisters who were having their nails painted. He than was thinking of eating or not and he went for it. that was just 3 to 4 hours after we had our lunch if you take that in mind. He loved the local food there and soon he was seen eating happily.
The taxi which took us back to the hotel was one cool ride. It wasn't the usual taxi but a suv. the driver had a cow boy hat and he told us that he arranges tours and if in need of a ride, he was just a call away and he promptly gave us his name card. hows that for enterpreneurship. My mum suggested to go and watch the cabaret show (transverstites dancing). Rachel was up for it. she wanted to see. so my mum checked with the receptionist about the places where they perform and was told that she could even booked through them for us. A ticket costs 700 baht ($30) and it was held at the nearby Asia Hotel. We had roughly an hour before the next show starts and we had nothing to do. so we took a slow walk to the hotel, passing by some shops on the way. When we reached the hotel, we still had half an hour to kill but there wasn't anything else to do! so we collected our tickets from the counter and headed in. The seating arrangements were fixed and since we booked late, we did not have fantastic seats. It was like a small theater, only that the seats were placed in a semi circle format where small tables were placed along the rows of chairs with a small table lamp on the table. we were given a choice of drink right after we sat down. They had wine, xo, beer, gin tonic and juices. both my sisters had wine while my parents had gin tonic and beer was my choice.
The show than carried on to have different performers dancing to different tunes, lip syncing as well. And they are all men dressed as ladies complete with breasts and flat at the bottom. If you get what i mean. After the show which lasted for an hour, the performers lined up against the wall for the audience to take a picture with them, of cause with a small fee. There was one who really looked like a girl and we took a picture with her. (below) look like girl right!! omg. it scares me. this is their website. visit if you dare. next we headed for Patpong’s Night Market, in other words, Bangkok's red light district. Just 2 minutes after we stepped out of the taxi, there were men holding small cards with words like "good show, XXX" and "good quality DVDs, sex shows". this kind of cards.we quickly walked past them and headed for the shops. after walking for a while, rachel said she was hungry. this is surprising as she eats very little and is never hungry, only very full. so we looked out for food. in the end, subway was our dinner. After dinner, we walked for a while more before heading back to the hotel to pack. Next morning, we were supposed to wake up at 9am to visit my dad's friend but everyone overslept till 10am, and our transport to the airport reaches at 12pm. so we didn't go in the end. A tuk tuk full of shopping. not ours though. my dad wanted to go back to the four face buddha to pray again and we took a taxi down. however, the taxi driver thought we were going to another buddha and drove to the wrong destination, wasting half an hour of our time. a de-tour and we were back at the buddha to pray. after that we walked to Siam Paragon for some makan. Stupid driver. My mum and her tom yum. look at how small it is. its a wonder how we managed to squeeze into it. The driver allowed us to take a photo with his tuk tuk and we gladly hopped on. Stopped by a shop selling prayer stuff just down the road to buy some stuff. While waiting for them, i pointed to my shirt and said monkey, than i pointed to rachel and said gorilla and cheryl chimpanzee in a song type. heh. rachel than said we should take a photo. so i did the pose the monkey on my shirt was doing, and them doing some pose either animal would do. After checking in, we headed inside and best yet, we had to kill 2 hours. -_-" Walking around, my dad and I left my mum and sisters to look around ourselves. however, everything was branded items. turn right, LV, turn left Prada. wth. they can start dreaming that we would spend our money there.. only on food though. thats an exception. we stopped by a cafe as my dad wanted to get some food. as usual. he ordered tom yum which came with rice anda tiger prawn, a smaller version of "antenna" which he did not get to eat. he was satisfied though.
Bye byee.. Tea on the plane.. Upon reaching Singapore, my dad and i took the bus back to get the car and drove back to the airport to pick my mum and sisters plus stuffs up. well. that concludes the holiday. i bet your eyes are sore and brain aching already. thanks for wasting 15minutes of your life. (: 7:49 PM
