Sydney!!!!!
Went to Sydney in Australia last Tuesday and it was great! Our Flight was at ard 10.30 in the morning and we took Gulf Air....... It took us ard 7 hours to get there and by the time we left the airport in the rented car, it was 10.15 and we had not taken our dinner yet! But firstly we had to find our hotel, check in and find a place to have our first dinner there. It took us almost 2 hours to get things done because the roads there are a heck of a mess! Can u believe they close highway roads and we had to detour! And there are sho many 1 way streets and onli some are shown on the 2003 road map that the car renter( Thrifty) left in the car.
Anyways, we left to find food at ard midnight..... hopin to have food available because the shops there close shooo early! They close ard 5 everyday except on Thursdays which is at 9. We found a nice little shop nearby( thankfully!) which sold chicken, pizza and a few other things. We had a whole chicken and a medium pizza and that really filled our stomachs to the brim. We went to the Sydney fish market the next day and we had our Breakfast/Lunch there becoz it was ard 11 when we arrived there. We had fish and chips and it was nice! The fish market was huge! They sell all their stock there sho it was very cheap! After breakfast, we went to the fruit shop in the place itself and we bought some bananas and a few strawberries for the nights. After the fish market, we went to the Sydney Aquarium and boy it was HUGE!! We bought tickets and entered..... Fishes of all kinds were in tanks and creatures from the sea and riverbanks too. There was a tank which contained a crocodile! It was really huge! I was videotapin it when it moved and towards me too! It was sho cool! Than we moved on and there was a place which stored seals and the best part was that we could see the seals from below. We went down the slope which led us round and round until we reached the bottom and it was sho nice to see the water from below! We moved further and came to the sharks section and boy it was Damn NICE! It was similar to the Seals enclousure but onli that we can see from below, not the open-aired side. Maybe they are afraid that the visitors would fall in and get eaten by the sharks.. Anywayz...... we were about to exit when we saw a place where they took super imposed photos for you. We took 1 foto and it was really cool. After that we headed for Bondi Beach which was quite a distance away. It took us abt an hour to reach there and we walked along the beach for a while and headed for the shops along the roadside. After breezin through the shops, we stopped by at a Noodle place for some light refreshments.... well not exactly light. We had noodles which was delivered in a huge plate and consisted of a large portion of noodles. Sho large that we could not finish the food. After that heavy meal, we headed back to the hotel to park the car and rest for a while and headed off on foot to our next destination. Queen Elizabeth Building. My dad had to attend a function there and it was onli for a while but it was really boring. After his function, we went back to our hotel and that goes another day. On the next day, we headed for Blue Mountains which was also quite a distance away, with me sleeping almost all the way there. Half way, we saw a sign which indicated that there was a wildlife park nearby sho we detoured and headed for the park. Thats the best part for not followin tours, you get to make changes to your plans anytime without any trouble. We visited the wildlife park and it was quite small. After that we headed for our original destination : Blue Mountains. When we reached there, we looked out for a place to eat. I had steak and it was delicious! Than we headed for the main attraction there. The senic view and the 3 sisters ( rocks) and there was this train ride which was the steepest in the world! it was like a train but onli that the seats are facin downwards and there is a cage above us in case we fall out. Anywayz, We took the steep train down and walked along the broadwalk to the place to bring us back to the top. It was like a cable car but bigger than that and can store a huge number of people. It brought us up and we headed back to the city. We than went to The Rocks near the city. Its a small tourist attraction and we had our dinner there. We found a place which lets us barbecue our own food and we all had steak except my mum who had chicken and it was delicious! After that heavy meal, I wanted to go to the Hard Rock Cafe there and we found the place without much difficulty. The next morning, we headed for the farm on the outskirts of the city for some horse riding. It took us abt 2 hours to get there and we stopped at a nearby town to grab a bite. We patronised Subway and had to hurry with our meal because the farm was only 15 minutes away. When we reached the farm, we found the stables and there was some horses being prepared for us and 2 other boys. We mounted the horses and followed the guide who led us on their usual trail. From the time we left the stables, there was alot of flies flyin ard us and the poor horses. It was horrible! The flies were all over! On the faces, backs and body of horses and worse still, the pesky flies were all over our helmets! Die pesky FLIES! The flies were swarmin all over the place and spoiled the whole ride! Well! Anyway... Enough bout those flies. After the horse ride, we went to Paddington Market to do some shopping! There were rows and rows of shops but we discovered later on that most of the shops sold the same things! We than crossed the road that led us to Chinatown and since my dad wanted to eat chinese food rather than the usual aussie food, we searched for a nice little restaurant in Chinatown. After walkin ard, we found a suitable place to have the desired chinese food. After a while, we realised that we had patronised that restaurant before with my grandparents on the previous trip. Anywayz.... we ordered a plate of sweet and sour pork, a plate of duck meat, vegatables, a big servin of hot and sour soup(Mmmmm) and somemore i think... hehex.... forgot already. After that meal, we headed for the hotel to park our car because the parkin there is horrendous! Our record was a wooppin $28 aussie dollars! Can you believe it??? After we parked our car, we walked to the docks which was very near the Sydney Aquarium as we were supposed to meet my dad's friend there. It was ard 4.30pm when he arrived and he arrived in style! He travelled in his own private yatch to fetch us! Although it was quite small, still it was impressive.... to own your own boat.....*dreamin*... WAKE UP! Ok.... so he took us under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and sped past the Opera House and he sped up after we past that. My sisters and me sat in front of the boat and boy, it was fun! When we were speeding, we would fly off our seats and have water splashin on us! Ok...ENOUGH! Later i make you readers jealous. After the trip round the lake, not goin out to the open Ocean, we headed for his house and it was located along the lake. He parked his boat in his designated spot and he led us to his house. On the way there, he told us that his boat costed him $70k and the parkin space a wooppin $120k! More than his boat.... and he has to pay $100 every month for maintenance. When we reached his house which is a semi-d, we were greeted by his wife and his FAT cat. The cat was really FAT! Like Garfield. Yes. We stayed at his house for a while and took a look at the surroundings. It was like a place for rich people to stay because the houses are just next to the lake and there is a swimmin pool very near their house. When it was time for dinner, he and his wife drove us there in his Merc and BMW to the Rocks for some Japanese food. Boy he is rich..... *dreamin again*. After the meal, we bid farewell and headed back to our hotel on foot. When we were walkin, we saw this huge Christmas tree and we stopped to take a photo. When we reached our hotel, we were all tired and slept soundly. Well, this was last day in Sydney and we decided to go to the places that we missed out and really wanted to go.We had to check out first as the check out time was 10am. I wanted to visit a shop that we past by the previous night but was closed and we headed for that shop. Alas. When we arrived at the shop, it was still closed so we browsed through the book shop 2 doors down, hopin that the shop would open soon. It opened at ard 11am so i had the chance to see what the shop sells. It was a sports shop and the things they sell are so expensive! We walked back to our hotel to get our car and we headed to the Sydney Fish Market for lunch. It was ard 12.30pm when we reached there and it was very packed. Carpark was full of cars! I wondered briefly how such a small place can be such an attraction and how it can contain the owners of the cars! After we parked the car, we looked ard for a nice little restaurant sellin good SEAFOOD. My dad wanted to eat SEAFOOD because he has not eaten Seafood yet. We found a place and we decided that the place would sell seafood to fill our stomachs. When we were told that we could buy fresh seafood from next door and let them cook for a price of $15, we were more than happy to see what the shop next door has to offer. My dad bought a dozen oysters, half a kilo of prawns and a lobster to bring over to the restaurant. My dad requested that the lobster to be cooked with noodles and with soup and we ordered some food from them. I had a cheesy lobster and my parents started on the prawns first because they were cooked already. When the lobster noodles came in 2 bowls, we tasted the soup and it was sweet! It was so nice that i helped my self to a few more scoups. After we were filled up, there was still some more prawns left so we decided to 'da pao'. We than travelled to Luna park which was quite far away. It was a small amusement park on the opposite of the lake from the city. When we bought the tickets, we explored the park and tried all the rides there are. It was so fun! After the Luna Park management announced that the park was goin to close which was at 6pm, we left the park feelin a bit sick but happy. We were supposed to meet my mum's niece's friend ( Hui Si) who was stayin there to pass her somethin. We waited at the Luna Park Carpark as we were supposed to meet her there. After waitin and waitin, my mum finally called her and she told us that she was stuck in a traffic jam and whether we could meet her at the airport. We than made our way to the airport and lookin out for a petrol kiosk to fill up the tank before returnin the car to Thrifty(otherwise they will charge more). When we were about to reach the airport, there was still no petrol kiosk, so we headed for the next town which was further up to fill up the gas. After that, we headed back for the airport and we met Hui Si there. She was helpin us queue first because the queue was like soooooo long. After queuing for what seemed like ages, we finally checked in and went for dinner. We headed for the foodcourt and we were suprised at what we saw. Their foodcourt was all fastfood! HEAVEN!!! hahax. I had chicken and it was nice! Honey baked! MMmmmmm.... After dinner, we headed back for the gates, carryin dounuts bought by Hui Si. When we entered the gates, my mum commented that she was surrounded by people from her homeland and happy for 2 hours and than lonely again. Sigh....... Anywayz... we boarded the plane and headed back for Singapore. Our holiday was over when the plane touched down at Changi Airport at 3.30am. *Sigh again* by the time we reached home, it was around 4am already. Anywayz... thats the end.......... |
